Had one bent stanchion. Looks like one of my spring lines was in the wrong place. It's an easy fix.
One the other hand; the sailing ie (Windsurfing) was pretty good.

Commuting to downtown NYC for 20 years was insane. Continuing to work down there, when the view from my office window was a giant hole in the ground...That was insaneCathy Monaghan wrote:Frank,
Has anyone ever told you "you're insane"? Anyway, glad you had fun.

Over the last 35 years, I have spent thousands of dollars traveling in order to sail and surf in those kind of conditions.
It is a rare treat to be able to windsurf 40+ knots in your own backyard...that's not insane:
That's bliss.

Frank,
Next time its blowin' 40+, I gonna get a window table at Louie's, get a few beers, and watch you out there!!!!! One of the beers is for you, by the way!!! And its not for the windsurfing....its for having the stamina to do the commute to the City for so long! My wife does it everyday from Merrick!

My god if I had to do the commute from Merrick, I'd surely be dead by now. Your wife is one strong individual.Warren Kaplan wrote:Frank,

In a Nor Easter we usually launch closer to your neck of the woods. Last Saturday we sailed Center Island Beach. We park on the inside lot, and cross the road or use the tunnel to get to the sound.
We've had a lot of Nor Easters this winter; great sailing, but the beaches are getting punished. Hopefully the South Westerlies of Spring will replenish them before the Summer crowds.
