Two more "officialy" on the dark side now...

Post by mgphl52 »

Yes, you can now Toni and me fully to the dark-side list. After 18+ years of owning a Cape Dory (five different ones), KAYLA is now under a new Captain! We are very excited for Doug & Kitty and their future with KAYLA.

I'm sure Doug and Kitty will become frequent visitors of board and that all of you will welcome them aboard.
Here's a picture of the paper exchange:

It probably won't show up on your radar, Steve.

Mike and Toni,

Congratulations (I think).

I have heard that the two happiest days in a boat owner.s life are the day he buys the new boat and the day he sells it.

Several years ago this board had a thread concerning the various, often strange, names that people gave their boats. Some had a Latin translation, some reflected a Hawaiian saying and others, many more reasons from all over the checker board. Some names were very surprising to learn of.

So many have named their boats after family members or loved ones in their lives, past and present. I suppose that many names have a hidden, personal meaning that the owners prefer not to make public. I can't remembering ever hearing what the name KAYLA represents.

Well, whatever, congratulations (I think). :?:

OJ, Thanks! Congrats are greatly welcomed. Toni and I will now be better able to get some of the many projects on Tranquil done. First and foremost will be installation of the holding tank and head... if not, I will surely be keel-hauled!

As for KAYLA's name origin, I have no clue! My ex-wife argued with me so much when naming my last CD25, that I was quite pleased with both the name KAYLA and the beautiful way it was applied on her stern. Plus, I did not want to revisit the "battle" from before. I think Doug and Kitty may plan to rename her.

As for Tranquil, Toni and I both like her name just as it is. If it had been "Tranquility" we would have had to throw re-naming parties, etc... in stead of just partying for fun. From information I've found, it appears that she has always been named Tranquil and it suits her and us just fine.

the dark side is reserved for those who sell a CD and purchase
a Sea Ray plastic tub. I'll trade my CD30 in for a Catalina 42
in a hartbeat if anyone wants to swap.
