It looks like the CD manual suggests an "acorn" type zinc attached to the end of the prop shaft. How is this zinc fastened to the prop shaft? Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can purchase an acorn zinc? I live in Westchester County, NY so lower CT would be ok. Does anyone have any experience using a "washer" type zinc fixed to the propeller shaft just aft where the shaft exits the hull and before the propeller?
Thanks,
Chris

Re: Zinc for Open Sport Fisherman Power Boat
Chris,
I have a 280 Sport. I when I ordered my boat I told Cape Dory not to put the "acorn" zinc (there is another name for it maybe perry nut) on the boat. With the size of the "acorn" zinc if it did not erode evenly I was afraid of vibration. I have used a "washer" zinc on the propeller shaft and get a season out of it here on eastern Long Island.
