New Year's Day Sail - Galveston Bay

Post by Chuck »

Good morning Everyone,
We had our first sail of the year yesterday, and the day was beautiful. The day started cold and overcast, but as forecasted(imagine that), it cleared off, the sun came out, and that tough north wind layed down some, bring down the chill factor.
There were five of us from Pier 7, so we decided to go on one boat, the one with the biggest windshield, Gerald & Ruth Ann's. Ruth Ann had rum bloody marys, muffalotta sandwiches, Richard brought hot chowder he had just made. Carl had the beer, and I, well, I helped dispose of it all.
Mike Payne, on Dragonfly, had a full crew also, and we all left Watergate around One pm, and just plain had a great afternoon.
I can't think of a better way to start the new year than to be out on the Bay, enjoying the day with good friends.
Best wishes and a happy new year
Chuck Gardner

Rub it in Chuck! I had to break the ice around the boat/slip yesterday! Had to shovel off the snow 3 or 4 days ago! Talk about sucking! And the water temperature is 34°, that is cold water for my little corner of the world.

Really, great to hear yawl had such a good sail and turnout. We are just in a freakin cold snap (I guess it's call winter) and we are catching any breaks in the near future.

Happy New to you, Grace and all the crew.
