FRESH TASTING, BETTER SMELLING WATER

Post by Bob Pence »

Most of us add clorox to the water when filling the tanks. I tried using the new 'Lemon Scented Clorox" and it is a lot better. Kills the bugs, doesn't smell like Clorox, and it's like a glass of water with a small wedge of lemon in it. Try it, you'll like it, especially if you take on water at some marinas on the ICW that are on an artesian well that can have a slight taste or smell of sulphur. Bon Appetit'.

Bob,

We installed a cheap ($35)charcoal water filter on our boat 9 years ago, and find that this change has cleaned up our water taste immensely. We use a packet of chemical (probably a hyperchloride powder) to control the bugs and critters, and the taste of chlorine is awful, (and a carcinogen)so this filter with an activated charcoal insert completely removes that taste and chemical, making the water really good tasting. I highly recommend this improvement. You will have to replace the filter element about once every 6 mn.
