1 - You could suggest "best boat with dog" or "best dog with boat" to the committee. Good luck.
2 - There is no official place to leave a dinghy. My first choice when I have it with me is to deflate, roll it and leave it on the side deck at the shrouds. You could also leave it anchored at Peddocks and go back for it after the race.
3 - It's not much more complicated than the friendly fun race we had from New Bedford to Red Brook. If you know port tack from starboard tack, you'll be okay. Read through the Regatta rules and ask here if you're confused. If you're basically polite, you'll be okay. I don't race, either, other than this.
The two guys I thought might crew are starting to look doubtful. I need at least one crew person on race day and would welcome one or two more. We can arrange a Saturday morning pickup and a Saturday afternoon drop off somewhere in the Boston area. This is a low-key, fun-race and no special skills are needed (although the ability to grind a genoa winch would be a plus). Respond here if interested or shoot me a private e-mail.
Stan, I tried to PM you. I'm not sure if it got thru. Anyway, I'd love to join you if you still need a crew. I'm a CD 28 owner (SPYDER) and have done some racing. If still in need, you can call me at my work number during the day (617-565-6950). Phil

Stan is the team to watch, in any case. That's with one eye... keep the other eye on John Ring (who takes pictures while sailing almost as fast as Stan) and on Tom and Angela who claim novice status will sail with a newly acquired special crew member.
(I don't have the list yet, but last year there was one other 28 registered.)
Oh yeah, let's keep an eye on the rest of the Cape Dory fleet, too. And for Joe Montana, who has yet to actually see a Boston Harbor Island, keep an eye on the view, also.
I have had something come up for Fri. I plan to sail from Salem Thu morning, then moor at Boston Sailing Center until Sat morning. Then my crew and I will sail the race and Spend the night at Peddick's. Return to Salem Sun. Does anyone else plan to stay at Peddick's Sat night?

The SUNDAY forecast calls for rain. So I plan on sailing for home later Saturday, less I suffer the slings & arrows of a soggy, grumpy, crew.
EDITED: to show rain forecast for Sunday, not Saturday.

Hey we won last year, shouldn't we give Stan a chance at some glory? What do you mean he wasn't there last year? Are you saying our victory was tainted?
at least we have the promise of some bilge temp grog I'm told...and I'm hoping that was not intended as a performance bonus!

Neil's right. Rain is in the forecast for Sunday. Saturday should be clear weather.
If the winds are N or E as predicted, maybe Portuguese Cove isn't the best place to anchor Friday night. Perhaps the other side of Peddocks? Elsewhere?

If it's NE enough, tuck inside Perry Cove and you'll be protected. With wind more from the North, the south side of Gallops will work. The other side of Peddocks is okay if the wind is North, but won't be protected from the NE.

Looks like me, instead of my wife, will be sailing on my wife's old boat.
I really hope there is some wind.
Megan would like to defend her Lady Skipper title from last year. Her first race, and had only owned the boat a few weeks prior.
