I found my cd25 at OBMC. The ride home was cold and rainy, but we had a steady tailwind the whole way.
That moorage was quite crowded. There's some big $$$$ in those neighborhoods.

Hi Kilgore,

Oyster Bay is a BIG well-procted harbor and there's LOTS of room to anchor (that's one of the reasons it's perfect for a rendezvous or float-in). In the photos above, we are anchored in THE COVE which is between Cove Neck and the OBMC mooring field. (Note how isolated Realization is in the anchorage.) There's also a large anchorage in West Harbor. We love West Harbor, we usually have it all to ourselves -- or maybe with only 2 or 3 other anchored boats. We anchored in West Harbor during our return trip.

West Harbor is just fabulous especially during the week. Its protected on all sides. Its HUGE and there is plenty of room to "spread out" and just relax. The homes on Centre Island, on the eastern border of West Harbor make for nice scenery. Mucho coin in those abodes!!!!

I'm up there all the time during the season. On the weekends, the NE corner gets lotsa' boats rafting up. That's fine...but the wave runners and the like that are constantly running back and forth on saturday and sunday can be annoying.

Nevertheless...if you ever want a quiet, secure anchorage for a night or two West Harbor is the place to go during the week!

So Micheal, did you get a chance to fly your spinnaker at all?

Very pretty, Steve.

Ariel Overtaking an Island Packet

Post by David VanDenburgh »

Last weekend we spied an Island Packet (about 40 feet) on the horizon and set out to see if we could overtake her. We did. The CD36 is no slouch under sail! Wind 5-10 knots. The photos were taken by a chagrined IP owner who was surprised that Ariel walked up on him so easily. (And we were towing an inflatable!)

Here's a photo of CD33 Evening Light approaching Gilkey Harbor in Penobscot Bay, taken during the CDSOA Maine Cruise this year. This photo was taken right after E.L. blanketed Leona Pearl in her dirty air, while laughing in a most un-sportsmanlike manner

Cathy and the crew,

The pictures look great. Sorry we were so late that day, as you can remember the wind was up and the current was against us. What usually takes us 2 1/2 hours dragged out to 5 hours from Huntington to Oyster Bay. We even took one wave over the bow. Our saving grace was the new dodger we literally just had installed a few days before our cruise. We spent 14 days on the boat and only sailed 3 of them, a little while from Oyster Bay to Milford, then to and from Block Island. Disappointing especially after having a 150% genoa modified to fit the furler. I was really looking to make more use of the sails. “Windlessâ€
