Post by Rita Pecora »

Purchased my CD 25 last summer...What a Great Boat for a beginner.....I remember some info on this site about the correct type of ladder to put on her...I think most thought it should go off the stern...Can anyone help me with information on this?? Is there a certain type or manufacturer???Thanks !

That's a convenient place for a foldup/folddown ladder. Problem is the the stern tends to react to waves, wakes, etc., and boarding can be a challenge. Boarding is a lot easier from alongside, but it's a less convenient place for an installed ladder.

There are a bunch of ladders in the West Marine catalog. That might give you some ideas.

be cautious--The boarding ladder on our CD25 is great for swimers who would generally grab on , pull out , step on then climb up. A dingy contact presses in toward the boat which then unsets the ladder connection to the "flush mount " on deck .

This is a solution for those who are fit.
Hang a loop of webbing from the stern cleat
with the end of the loop touching the water.
Obviously its not as easy to climb up as a
ladder but it is very easy to deploy and
the CD25 does have a low freeboard.

Every time I go sailing alone, I rig jack lines
from bow to stern and use their excess length to
make a such a loop... just in case.
