CD 25 engine well
i have a 1972 CD 25-- we are racing with it. it is a slow boat. we have been pulling the outboard out of the engine well once we are fully under sail. water does flood into the hole for the engine shaft which creates a drag. are we better to just leave the engine in? i have heard there are fiberglass "blocks" or something we could put in the hole to plug it and have less drag once we pull the engine. does anyone know where to find one? any thoughts

Trim
Chris,
Water coming up in the well of a CD 25 is a new one on me.
Never had that problem with engine either in or out.
You may want to look at your fore and aft trim.
If it turns out that your hull is different than mine, it would seem to be a simple matter of fabricating a rectangular piece to fit and close the bottom opening.

Wooden plug
We always sailed with a wooden plug in our opening. I don't recall the exact dimensions but we used a piece of plywood that overlapped the outside of the hole with a frame of about 1 inch square stock that fit inside. We had a couple of eye screws in the fore and aft pieces and we used bungy cord to hold it up. I don't know if we were faster but we did eliminate the splashing up inside.
