S/V Rhapsody & Chesapeake Bay
Hello to all
Rhapsody and crew arrived at Yankee Point Marine (Sunny Lancaster, VA) at 1350 June 3. We were in the water by 1420ish and then it started to rain. It is still raining.
Our plan is to head north tomorrow. Antipoison Creek or Mill Creek and then St Marys River in the next day or two.
We are pumped!

Re: S/V Rhapsody & Chesapeake Bay
I was just anchored in the St Marys River Thursday night, in Price Cove off of St Georges Creek, really lovely spot. Am in Colonial Beach now and continuing north up the Potomac to DC. Where are you heading from St Marys?barfwinkle wrote: Our plan is to head north tomorrow. Antipoison Creek or Mill Creek and then St Marys River in the next day or two.

Patuxent Maybe
I would like to bump into Bob Ohler while in that next of the woods and that may be my northern limit. I have Price Cove marked as well. Thank you for the info. We want to stroll around St Mary's City is it worth it?
I want to go up the Potomoc, but round trip would surely be 6 days and with a day or two in DC, well I just dont know if we have that much time.

I didnt bother to go into St Marys City, normally I would do such a thing, but I have been in rush mode trying to get to DC in time for my sisters wedding.barfwinkle wrote:I would like to bump into Bob Ohler while in that next of the woods and that may be my northern limit. Point Lookout
Well we made it to Smith Creek and immediately ran aground! Kedged off, motored a bit more and ran aground AGAIN! Too tired, so we called TowBoat! Dinner is over FINALLY & a shower is in the offing! I quote Alisa's comment on the day now "I got sun burned, sea sick, stuck twice (sic run a ground), took a shower in a strangers house and saw a dead sea turtle which was huge..man its been a hell of a day!Z"

Solomons MD
Hello from Solomons
We departed St Mary's City at 0620 and arrived here at 1430. Total keel time 106 NM from the Rappahannock. We had a great beam reach from Point Lookout Light to Point No Point Light, then squat!! We covered 37 miles today and are setting at Spring Cove Marina. Crew wanted a shower.
Not too sure were to go from here and that will be solely determined by crew, NOT the skipper.
Anyway we love the Bay!

Chuck, I had Alisa with me until today. She got home sick and flew home today.
Bart, I am in F7 and have been since Friday night. I'll be leaving tomorrow for either st leonards creek, Mill Creek or the Choptank. I havent made up my mind as yet. Most of the weekend was making arrangement for my grand daughters return flight and ground transportation on each end of the flight. Were/are you at the marina this weekend?

Bill,
I wasn't at SC this weekend, but plan to come down Wednesday and stay through Friday. I'm retired and tend to do my sailing while others are working. I'm also a grandfather and aplaud your effort to include your granddaughter in your Cheaspeake adventure.
From my limited experience, 4years at SC, you are right-on with respect to your next move. I have anchored at Mill Creek numerous time. As long as the Navy flyers aren't involved with night exercises its a nice quiet spot. Heading north you have a couple of options. In the Little Choptank there's Hudson Creek, and in the Choptank, I like Dun Cove, Oxford, and Latrappe Creek.
Have Fun.

Headin South
Bart
I went north to the Choptank and Broad Creek. I spent one night in Leadenham Creek, then over to St Michaels. A waterman evidently took exception to my selection of anchorages, cause every time he came by he gunned his boat to kick out one hell of a wake. Another waterman, fished all morning nice and quietly. Go figure.
I thought I needed to head south instead of going on north at this point I went back to Solomons Is and anchored. I departed there this AM and am now in Point Lookout Marina, showered and laundry done. Today I met up with Bob and Judy Qualls (SV Albatross) headed for St Mary's City for the 375th celebration. I could not hang and pulled in. I am calling them in the AM to double check their plans, but as I understand them they are heading back to Mill Creek Sunday. I have already made arrangements with Yankee Point Marina to pull next week so I can head home.
