SF Bay Area Sailmakers Who REALLY Understand Cutters

Post by Kevin LeMans »

The sails on my CD30 are getting tired and I would like to start looking for a local (San Francisco Bay Area) sailmaker who understands the cutter rig. I would appreciate any recommendations for lofts. BTW, I read the post from the individuals who liked Larsen/Neil Pryde (as they were on their way to New Zealand), but my boat is in Emeryville and I wonder what kind of service I can expect from a loft in Santa Cruz.

Kevin,

Try Jocelyn Nash at Quantum Sails in Brickyard Cove. The people there have been very good to me cutting racing sails for my Moore 24 and recently a new main and jib for my CD33. Jocelyn knows sails and spent alot of time on the boat and with us to make a headsail that was suitable for SF summer conditions. I beleive it is essential that the sailmaker measure and look at the sheeting arrangements on the boat.

Hello Kevin, go to www.sail.com these fokes do pure magic with old sails. I've sent my main off with a few head sails to have repaired. My dock mate with his Hunter had all his sails re done, and they are beautiful!! So I got the big box, the ups man, and sent those twenty year old sails to them. check out there site, take care, Kevin SV/Laura (cd-28)
