If anyone with a CD27 has Their mainsheet Traveler mounted forward of the cockpit I would like very much to know how and where it is installed and how you like it.
Thanks for your help.

CD27 Cabintop Traveler
Moderator: Jim Walsh
I don't think you'll find many examples........
Bob:
If you look at the sketches of the different CD models on the Specs page here, you'll see that those models with cabintop travelers (starting with the CD30) have the traveler located about in the middle of the boom. I believe there have been successful retrofits on CD28s, as the travleler could also attach about midway on the boom. But one look at the CD27 drawing shows that the sheet and traveler would have to be located about 1/3 of the way back on the boom to avoid interfering with the companionway. I do not recall any CD27 owners on this board reporting that they have done or seen this modification. The force upon the sheet and traveler due to the extra leverage would be large and probably would require a stouter boom as well as reinforcement of the cabintop.
Another option to consider would be installation of the traveler on the bridge deck (like the earlier 33s) but I'd dismiss that pretty quickly as it would encroach on the cockpit more than the existing aft traveler.
Other thoughts?
