Typhoon Turnbuckles

Post by Markst95 »

I've been searching the archives but can find any info on turnbuckle size. I have 1/4 " for the sidestays but larger ones for the fore and backstay. Are they 5/16"? They aren't marked and I need to replace the larger ones. Mine are opened body, no roller furling. Anyone have the sizes???

From the 1981 Manual

According to the 1981 Manual, the wire is 1/8" all around on the Typhoons, so the turnbuckles would be sized accordingly.

hi...
1/8 wire with 1/4 open body is right,
i went to 1/8 wire with 5/16 open body all around with S.S. over bronze, because they are the strongest for off shore sailing....

Are they all the same size? Mine has a larger size for the forestay and backstay. Thanks for the info. Mark

an easy way to find out is to use open end wrench's like calipers and find the one that it fits into snugly.
