I'm considering replacing and adding to my inventory of instruments on my CD30 Cutter and would like suggestions based upon reliability and value. What is recommended for boat speed, water depth, wind speed and wind direction? If I had to select now, I would go with Standard Horizon.

Don, I just recently upgraded all my electronics on a cd30 cutter as well. I ended up going with the raytheon products. heres why.Don Metznik wrote: I'm considering replacing and adding to my inventory of instruments on my CD30 Cutter and would like suggestions based upon reliability and value. I wanted an integrated system with my existing autohelm 4000+. raytheons HSB. (high speed bus) connections via seatalk enabled all the new equipment, radar, chartplotter, dgps, windspeed so info is shared by all. can be accessed at all stations. rl72rc at nav. station, repeater at helm chart(520) so radar and chart can be viewed at same time or separate at each station.
Practical Sailor has reviews on electronics a few issues back. also the web site for performance yacht @ pyacht.com has good company info. on tons of equipment, I did choose horizons new vhf intrepid with dsc and gps interfacing. great radio.
budget was big factor, raytheon had everything I wanted in a package streamlined and easy to install. although blowing through mass on old intertwined wiring and dead ends, bad connections, bad grounds overloaded circuits was a nightmare. real happy with system. best of luck Ben
