Mike,

I'm afraid that your mentioning of beards will probably elicit a scowling retort from that hibernating seadog, Pucebeard the Pirate.
It has been reported, more than once, that Blackbeard was Pucey's idol, his patron buccaneer. Cut throats, all. You betcha. (Wink)

What about various other facial hair??? There are the various forms of moustaches and chin growths. You have the unshaven look. Anybody out there have side burns and want to chime in?

You are dividing by a number, greater than two

Virtual Vendee Globe

Post by Roy J. »

Now we have those obsessed with the virtual Vendee Globe and those who live in areas where they can sail more than 6 months a year.

Vendee or not to Vendee

Post by Troy Scott »

And another small subset: folks who live in areas where they COULD sail all year but can't right now because they (OK, maybe this small subset is just me...) are STILL working on the boat and don't really like games anyway......
y'all have fun.

Wow! I never knew John V had a blog! I just read the latest post. If they could just make a lite beer on the same idea of the Pinot More, I'd be a regular customer... :-)

Those that knew about John's blog and those that did not.
Can we have a count on those that did not know about it?

Mark, hardly anybody knows about it. I suspect it's the best-kept secret in the boating world. And there's a good reason for that. One day, when I have time, I'll explain about the huge and highly distinguished membership of Vigor's Silent Fan Club. Fans are automatically ejected from the club if they ever openly express admiration for my work.

True fans worship silently from afar and never write me letters of praise, despite the sometimes desperate urge to do so. I have the greatest admiration for fans like Barack Obama and Queen Elizabeth II, both of whom have bravely kept this impulse in check.

I haven't heard from President Bush or Sarah Palin, either. What wonderful fans they turned out to be.

You can judge the success of my blog by the vast number of "Zero Comments" I get. Mark, people are just too wonderful. I am deeply moved.

Yours in all humility,

John V.

The courage of my convictions

Post by Roy J. »

John,

Being a disciple of Groucho Marx and his club-joining preference (rejecting any that would have him), I am entirely conflicted about my respect for your work and being identified as a member of the John Vigor fan club.

However, I would be willing to risk ejection from the club, and even go so far as to comment on your blog, but I am, alas, an infotech immigrant (as opposed to my 17 year old son, who is a native), and therefore cannot figure out how to do it.

Keep up the good work -- we are furiously applauding with one hand.
