Thanks Warren,
Senator Kennedy has been one of my heros for a long time. Do you know what kind of boat he sails? They mentioned his racing. Do you know if he also cruises?

Kennedy Boat

Post by Bob Owens »

I think I have seen it identified as a 50' Concordia schooner.

I believe it was reported to be a 1927 Concordia 50 foot wooden hull Schooner.
From the pictures I have seen of it, the boat is beautifully maintained.
Of course with the Kennedy money, I'd expect no less.

Growing up in "Kennedy Country" (Massachusetts), I was always interested in the other Kennedy family sailboats.
The Star sailboat that President John Kennedy sailed and raced in his college years.
The 12 foot Beetle Cat that Jackie Kennedy bought in 1969 and was sailed from the Kennedy compound in the early 70's

That boat is absolutely beautiful, I have sailed past her many times in Nantucket Sound. One time returning late from Woods Hole via the canal I pulled in to Hyannisport at dusk and picked up a mooring for the night. At sunrise I saw that we were next to Maya. About an hour later the senator came out and asked how far we were going.......when I told him Chatham he remarked 'it was hardly worth raising the jib'. It's about 12 nm.
He used to also have a sweet Wiano senior whose name escapes me right now. I don't think I saw it out this year.
Never cared much for his politics, but he's a friendly guy and an enthusiastic sailor...........I wish him well.

Teddy's boat is indeed a Hunt design, built by Concordia. It has been maintained by Karl Anderson in Harwich Port.
