I would love to make it,
but I do not think that my boat will be put back together in time.
We targeted an October 1st splash.
Next one for sure.

Cathy;
My schedule is not clear yet, but will attend Saturday at least weather/tides and schedule permitting!
Hoping to get in more than that! Will update as I know more.

Off-topic: Carl
Today, I happened to look up culture for the Black-eyed Susan vine I'm thinking of planting. I knew its Latin name (genus) is Thunbergia but was reminded, again, by a footnote that it's named after the great Swedish botanist, Carl Thunberg.
So THAT'S why your name always sounds so familiar. Any relation?

Actually, yes.
Hi Judith,
Well, the truth has been vetted out. Yes, I am the secret heir to the vast financial empire of the eminent botanist himself. Okay, well the first part is true. The relation is very distant, but I am a direct descendent. I can't say that I inherited his green thumb, but we have about a million tomatoes right now.

It's not too late....
It's not too late if you'd like to join us on Friday or Saturday and just haven't gotten around to registering. But if you change your mind and still want to attend our little get-together this weekend, please register or at least send me an email so that we'll know you'll be there. Knowing how many will be in attendance helps in more ways than one, primarily, since we're having a potluck dinner, we'll have a better idea of how much food to bring and prepare. And I will also have a few items to giveaway and I like to have a little something for everybody. So be counted and register or contact me via email or PM.
Thanks,
Cathy

Last year's video now online....
It's taken a year, but Bruce has finally edited the video that he shot during last year's (2007) Raritan Bay Float-in and has uploaded it to the "Cape Dory" group on YouTube.
Click on the play button (the triangle), in the middle of the image below, to start the video.

Hopefully we'll get a chance to go for a fleet sail this Saturday and we'll get some video of this year's participants too.

We'll be there
Colleens college is having their family weekend but she'd rather be home this weekend and it's going to be gorgeous. October sailing in the northeast, wow. If anybody would like to go for a sail on Saturday or Sunday, and of course join in the potluck dinner, give us call.

Photos!
The Raritan Bay Raft-up kicked off on Friday with 20-25 kt. winds out of the WNW giving us a fast but lumpy ride on a broad reach (had to jibe 3 times) all the way to Atlantic Highlands. Luckily the winds settled down in the 10-15 kt. range for the night. On Saturday our CD32 Realization was joined by the following boats, some briefly and some for the duration of the float-in, for a total of 8 Cape Dorys:
