Need brass 1.5" round flush ring pull

Need brass 1.5" round flush ring pull
The pull on my bilge sump access panel has lost its ring and I've not been able to find a replacement in the last year. I don't want a solution which requires a modification as that is never my strong suit. If I get desperate I'll take one from my icebox cover but I'd rather not. Thanks for your help.

Have you looked at the ABI ones? The pull rings on my CD36 seem pretty standard fare, of the stuff I have seen that ABI offers I would think they would be a likely source for a close fit, if not exact. SeaDog offers similar stuff, but less variety. I think Jamestown Distributors and Hamilton Marine are both good ABI distributors.Jim Walsh wrote:The pull on my bilge sump access panel has lost its ring and I've not been able to find a replacement in the last year. Well, I just measured my pull rings, they are 1 1/2" diameter, then checked JD for the ABI stuff available, and they sell 1 5/8" diameter ones. So if you have the same ones I have in my CD, that would indeed involve some modification, which isnt what you were looking for.
Hopefully someone else has other alternatives, I would refuse to beleive a 1 1/2" pull ring is something that cannot be bought!
By the way, I dont blame you for not wanting to do modification on this one. It requires a router and some amount of skill in using one, not something all of us have. Its one of those jobs that seems like it should be simple, but is not for the average joe. A router is one power tool that when I pick up, I tend to make more of a mess with then anything else! But one day (when I find the space to stow one) I will change that.

Thanks anyway
I've found 1 5/8" ones in the past but don't dare attempt to fit one where it is so visible. Hopefully someone has a source for the exact replacement.
If you have to adjust the size of gain for a new ring try a square,(straightedge) a sharp utility knife and chisel. It isn't a deep mortise, 1/8"- 3/16". With some patience it shouldn't be difficult.
Russell, Unless you are doing some heavy duty hogging a laminate trimmer does a fine job and is more comfortable and easier to control than a full size router..........I use it often for light work , (hinge mortises etc.).
They also freehand very well.

The ring is long gone. I want an exact replacement if available anywhere. If I use my cabinetmaking skills to install a replacement it will look like a cobbler was trying his hand at finish carpentry. If I have to I'll bring the cover and a near replacement pull to a cabinetmaker this winter and pay a pro to install it. I'm not looking for a bargain. The closest I've been able to come in size is 1 5/8".

Since the pulls on CD's are circular (there are others available in rectangular mounts), it would be very simple to enlarge the opening with a 1-5/8" forstner bit in a drill press. These bits operate like planes (shaving off thin slices of wood) and do not require an intact surface...overlapping holes are easy to do. The only trick is not to go too deep; you want the surface of the brass mount for the pull to remain flush with the wood.
A drill press is needed because it's very difficult if not impossible to use the bit in a hand drill on a non-continuous surface. The bit has a center spur which keeps it from wandering.

I have the exact same problem with my CD30. I have also been looking for the last year and haven't found anything. I have been following this post hoping someone would have a solution.
I was searching the internet this morning and found this. http://absupply.net/baldwin-0390-flush- ... -4461.aspx . Maybe it will work. It looks to be 1.5" diameter and comes in a brass finish.
