Looks poor but may be an option that's better than the one you're already considering.
Much more work than I'd undertake, but.......
Good luck, Ron
Interesting project CD27

heartless clod
WRT the "cheapest CD28"... What kind of heartless clod lets a beautiful thing deteriorate to that condition? I can't imagine....

25D/27 Alternatives
You can buy a CD 25D (not such a different boat) or a 27 in the mid teens to low twenties AND GO SAILING RIGHT AWAY.
This baby ain't a bargin. And a 25D or 27 in sailable condition can fill countless hours with mini/modest projects tailored to your skill and time available, with compromising sea time.
Pass.

Ebay bargians
My CD30K was 16K in cherry condition (but the hull needed a paint job above the bootstripe) . It was a November purchase.
We have all seen 28's 27's etc go for under 10K on Ebay.......
(that were in nice shape) there is no need to buy a dog;
CD's are easy to find in sailaway shape. The CD30 bastard
ketch (some one needs to return her to a ketch ..... please!)
listed on the CD board has been for sale forever - I bet the owner
would be ripe for a fair offer. Typical bargain scenario - owner
removed mizzen mast and now he has a odd duck that he can't
move. Doityourself naval architecture is never a good thing......
He says he has the mast - worth looking into.
