Has anyone recently rigged a Typhoon for roller furling headsails. If so, what is the approximate costs and configuration for the gear and the sails? THX>

Try CDI---in the mid 200's---it works very well!

Could you detail that $200's pricing? Which model number furler are you refering to?
I spoke to the people at the CDI booth at the Atlantic City show who recomended a FF2 furler for my Typhoon. The cost was $490 plus recutting my Genoa and adding a UV cover. All of this was prior to sales tax. I would enjoy spending less then half for my intended purchase.

Bill,

I'm not sure if CDI gave you the proper info. According to their sizing chart from their website
http://www.sailcdi.com/ffmain.htm
the FF1 will do fine. As far as I know the FF1 is the best deal for the Typhoon. I would like to here the general opinion out there too as I'll be installing one this spring. It also looks like CDI increased the price since the last time I checked. It was previously $300. I believe Schaefer is the OEM furling system for Typhoons.

Hello Bill,

I had to go back to my receipts. Two years ago I paid 325.for
the ff2 with installed ball bearings, from Defender. I had SailCare
do the sail mods. They were very reasonable and the sail was restored
beautifully.
Apologies for the pricing misquote,

THX for the follow-ups. It appears now that the decision is between and FF1 at $325 and an FF2 at $490, plus re-cutting a sail. If anyone has thoughts on FF1 v FF2, that would be helpful. I'd love to hear that the $325 solution is adequate!

I have used the FF2 with factory installed ball bearings very happily for the past two years. NO PROBLEM. I installed it very easily following the manual. I considered the FF1, the intensity of sailing conditions, however, caused me to choose the FF2. Defender was able to give me a better price than CDI.
Happy furling,
