'77 CD 25 Hatch

Post by J.W. Connors »

I recently (this weekend) purchased a 1977 CD25. It's in pretty rough shape. I would like to restore it to its oringinal condition. I noticed that the hatch appeared unfinished, as if the gel-coat had been removed or had fallen off the topside of the fiberglass hatch. Is this original condition?

Also a question about my hull number 61176N. Was this the 611 boat built in 1976? Thanks for the pass down.

Hi Penny,
I have a '77 CD25 (hull #522) with the original gel coat. The hatch you describe sounds original. The top is a translucent fiberglas (no gelcoat) to allow sunlight to filter in below. As far as hull # look for a black plastic oval-shaped brandplate located in aft area of cockpit. If it's still on your boat, it should have the hull # stamped in. Also check inside the motor well on horizontal surfaces where gas tanks are stored- there should be numbers stamped into the surface that represents the date of manufacture (month/day/year).
Congrads on your new boat,
bill
