Try electrolysis?

Post by RIKanaka »

Couple of links here to a kitchen counter top method of electrolysis using aluminum foil, hot water and baking soda or other "activator". Sounds interesting and simple (disclaimer: I have not tried this method and would trial first with expendable or easily replaced hardware. Caustic solutions or volatile gases may result).

Here's another method using some wire, an electrolyte solution (salted water) and a battery. Same disclaimer applies:

Polishing Bronse

Post by Jerry Albright »

Troy,
I was V.P. and director of Engineering for a Custom Stainless Steel Fabrication shop for almost 30 years. Our guys could cut a hole in a piece of stainless steel, grind, polish and finish the metal, and you could not find the cut-out.
Polishing and finishing was one of our most skilled positions in the shop. There are countless combinations of polishing wheels and compounds for different metals and finishes. From time to time we would farm out work to a local company who specialized in metal finishing. I was always impressed with the results.
The company is located in Mobile, Al. you might want to give them a call.

Hope they can help you.

Thanks, Jerry! That's the most potentially helpful new information I've seen this morning! I'll bet they've done boat work before, considering their location.
