Thanks to all for advice on installing an electric bilge pump in my 25D. Now I found yesterday a new concern: wetness oozing from under the base flange on the raw water intake to the engine. Tightented up the four nuts holding the trhrough hull in place. Little improvement. Smeared gobs of LifeCaulk but it didn't stick and water found its way out. Cleared that out, cleaned the area, and smeared in a goo amount of 3M 5200. Very sticky stuff but water still finds its way to burrow little channels out. Maybe 3 drops a minute. I need some selant that instantly polymerizes when it hits water. I realize I need to reset the thru hull in the spring but I just put the boat in the water a week ago and don't want to spend more time on the hard. Any advice would be helpful

Get one of those sticks of underwater curing epoxy. It comes in a clay like consistancy, you break a peice off and mix it by hand, then stick it whereever. It will do the trick but wont be much fun to get off when you go to haul the boat and rebed the seacock later this year.
I always keep a couple sticks of this stuff at the nav station, its the sort of thing that in a bind will keep you afloat. Cheap insurance and as essential as tapered wooden plugs IMO.

plumber's goop
At The Home Depot they sell a product in a small tube called Plumber's Goop and it will set and stick to wet surfaces quite nicely. Be very aware that by sealing from the inside you are trapping the water between the hull and the wooden backing plate.
