As I do a lot of night cruseing I had to move the totaly useless all around light from right in front of my eyes to up above the bimini top. I had a 16 1nch ss piece of 1 inch tube with a round base to mount the light on one end and I cut a regular ss tee in two. I welded the cut tee to the end of the 16 inch ss tube then welded the assyembly to the upper rear top bow for the bimini. The hardest part was fishing the wire down inside the ss tube then through the bimini bow to the starboard side. There I ran the wire through a hole I drilled in the bottom bimini mount fitting then through a fitting into the flybridge side down to the nav-light switch. Before this mod it was almost impossable to run the boat from the flybridge. I find it hard to believe any boat manufactuer woul have put it there in the first place!

28 flybridge top 360 light

Re: 28 flybridge top 360 light
My 28FB Hull #124 has a removable 360 degree light on a 36" high pole to be used as anchor light only. An additional 220 degree white light is located on the forward part of the flybridge for navigation at night. This location still produces a visability problem however when the air is a bit thick. Perhaps an attempt was made to solve problem on some later models. I like you idea though since it gets the light well above the line of sight. I just might try it but I think I will use a 220 degree light instead of 360.

My 30FB also has a very bright nav light on the forward part of the flybridge. The VHF that the dealer put in the boat had a loudhailer output. So I bought a loudhailer speaker and mounted it just above the nav light. It does a great job of blocking the glare from the skipper's sight lines. There's some light reflected from the foredeck but the worst of it is solved.
