How much is my 1981 CD25 Worth

I have recently inherited a CD25, 1981. It currently has no engine. All of the sails are in the cabin along with the neccessary cushions. I am told that she has all the equipment neccessary to sail. The hull appears to be in good shape with a couple nicks here and there, but needs paint. Overall I would rate the boat in fair condition once she is cleaned and rigged.

Any idea what she might be worth???

The sad truth (from the sellers point of view) is that the market is flooded with old sailboats in this size range. Every week or so we see a CD25 for sail on this board usually priced from $5,000 to $10,000. 1973 was the first year they made that boat. That and the lack of a motor is going to put you on the low end of the price range even if the boat is fairly good shape. My best advice to you is to keep the boat and take up sailing! My second best advice is sell it quickly for what ever you can get, before your inheritance costs you more in marina bills that it's worth on the market.

You might check out the BOAT/US web site:

They provide a value service which I wouldn't swear by, but it is a point on the scatter diagram. My recommendation is that you check prices in Soundings (or throught their web site), plot them on a scatter diagram of Price vs. year, and keep track of significant differences in the boats, such as with or without brokerage fees, engine, etc. You will soon have a picture of asking prices by year and you can proceed from there. Prices will vary from season to season, and year-to-year. We were surprised to learn that CD-36s appreciated about 7% from '98 to '99 according to my surveyor.
