Soy-Strip bottom paint remover

Post by BillNH »

Has anyone worked with Franmar's Soy-Strip bottom paint remover? Saw it did well in Practical Sailor's tests and thinking of giving it a try...

I'm also curious to know about Soy-Strip, as I may give it a go as well. I bought a gallon of Aqua-Strip in the fall, another environmentally safe stripper. I had mixed results. Some patches of paint peeled off the hull came off easily, others wouldn't release after several applications. I probably had about 15 coats of bottom paint on there. I thickened it was some cabosil for a thicker layer of application, and that seems to have worked a bit better than Aqua-Strip right out of the can.

I've only got half of the hull stripped now, and may try out the Soy Strip for the other side.
