Haulout yard in Maine
I'm looking to get board opinions on the best haulout yards in Maine.
We will winter over in Maine during our passage to Greenland in 2009 and would like to find a nice yard where we can do our own boatwork. The farther up the coast the better.
thanks in advance,
rit

You wouldn't go too far wrong to contact Sune Noreen at Jonesport Shipyard (P.O. Box 214, Jonesport, ME 04649, 207-497-2701). I have had dealings with him a few times to good effect. His yard, though small, is first rate and right in the middle of Down East. He uses a marine railway to haul, and he probably could take a 33 foot sailing boat, but you must check with him about that.mike ritenour wrote: ... Each morning his tall, beautiful blond 19 year old daughter rows out to your mooring with a piping hot Swedish breakfast and Aquavit coffee.
OK, so I made that part up, but ...

yard in Maine
Hard to compete with a 19 perhaps 20 year old Swedish blond bringing you fresh Maine blueberries and turnips , but if you end up in Rockland Harbor, We keep our boat at Journey's End (207) 594-4444 You can store in or out and they let you work on your boat. We had a C.D.33,now a 36, and there is another 33 in the yard.
They do great mechanical work. there is also Knight Marine in Rockland.

Belfast Boatyard
Merry Christmas
You may want to consider Belfast Boatyard in Belfast Maine. Belfast is located about half way up the coast not too far from Rockland and Camden. It is the yard I keep my 25 ft CD in. Nice people and a pleasure to do business with.
Regards
Bill
