Cushions for 25d Interior

Post by Bob Luby »

I'm looking into getting new cushions for my 25D, and
have a quote of $1300 - Sunbrella from Linda's Canvas in Westbrook CT.

Frankly this seems quite stiff - and I wonder if it's a fair price.

What's the consensus here?

Thanks in advance.

We had our CD25's interior cushions redone in very high quality fabric for about $900. While the price seemed a little high at the time and it sure didn't make her sail any better, the improvement in the atmosphere below was dramatic. Given the fact that we intend to sail Simpatico well into the next century, we consider the job a good investment. I don't know if Sunbrella fabric is warranted for the interior cabin cushions-do you really need UV resistance down there? Also that stuff seems scratchy to the touch. Goog Luck. Lil

Bob,

I purchased a new set of covers for our 25D cushions this summer. They are tan in color and the Admiral feels they are too bright when compared to the current blue grey set. I would be willing to part with these if this might help you out. If your inner material for the cushions is good this will be a real low cost alternative. If you are interested let me know, make an offer.

Sincerely,

Lee

The fabric I'm thinking of is new, I think, and the 2 sq in. swatch I have isn't scratchy. It's sort of a linen-look type of fabric, with
threads of tan, dk brown, and soft blue. I figure it will help hide the dirt. It's sunbrella, but the weight is designed for cushions, not sail covers.
