Replacing Water pump

Re: Replacing Water pump
My approach has been to remove the three hex bolts on the flange behind the hoses. The entire water pump housing will now clear the entire cover plate so that you can get at the phillips head that is behind the crankshaft pulley. You can replace the three phillips head screws with hex head screws if you only want to remove the cover the next time. I use never-seez on the bolts and screws since this is a high corrosive area.Anyone ever replace/repair the water pump on a 1GM??? Anything special to it... or just straight forward???

Water Pump Followup
Well, the exchange was simple..... And there were rough spots on the shaft and the bearings were sticky and uneven... Dont know how that would affect the operation without spinning the impeller however....Will wait and see I guess...Anyone ever replace/repair the water pump on a 1GM??? BTW, the pump can easily be removed without pulling the pulley off of the crankshaft.
