Surveyor to check out Typhoon

Looking for a surveyor to check out a typhoon in the Burlington Vermont area. Any ideas? Thanks

Since a Ty is a pretty small, simple, and comparatively inexpensive boat, if it were me, I'd inspect it myself assuming I were reasonably experienced with boats and knew to look for things like spongey decks, blisters, worn rudder fittings, etc. If I were fairly new to boating but knew someone who has been around the block, I'd see if I could drag them along and maybe buy them dinner or something.

I'd at least try to look at other boats so as to have a basis for comparison.

The people over at the Hill yacht brokerage will recomend someone. They seem very nice and willing to help.

If you pass on it, please tell me where it is I'm in Burlington and am looking as well.

Thanks for reply. I am experienced with boats and will check out prospects myself. I am checking for worn hardware, rudder play and leakage, soft fiberglass, sail condition, etc. Anything else I should check for that is not obvious? I keep hearing about "compression poles". As these boats age, do compression poles under that mast become necessary. None of the boats I have seen have compression poles.

Stephen, there are posts about the compression posts on Typhoons and they are needed on boats that have had their stays too tight, and thus causing too much compression on the cabin. My '73 Ty does not have any apparent compression and I can not recall seeing Ty's with this solution. However the solution is simple and will transfer the forces of compression down to the keel where it is for older Ty's with keel mounted masts.

Search for compression posts and you will see some neat solutions.

Buy a Typhoon and you will be smiling all the time because they are beautiful and competent little yachts.
