My CD28 has a Barlow #15 mast winch (marked 1964-81) which I have not been able to figure out how to take apart to grease; also a Lewmar #6 single speed mast winch with the same problem. Any information concerning maintaining these winches would be greatly appreciated. Thanks....

Re: halyard winch maintenance
Look on the top of the winch near the place where the handle is inserted. What appears to be a chrome trim piece around the hole is actually a spring clip. Like finding the end of the scotch tape when it's stuck to the roll, you feel carefully along until you find the edge, then stick a knife or small screwdriver under the edge and peel it off. Once the clip is out the barrel lifts right off.My CD28 has a Barlow #15 mast winch (marked 1964-81) which I have not been able to figure out how to take apart to grease; also a Lewmar #6 single speed mast winch with the same problem.
