I need to do a substanial amount of re-bedding on my 25D. I have had expereience with 3M 5200 on my previous boat. Is this the compound of choice or is there something else (ie. kboatyard bedding compound or like material). It appears that all stanchions require rebedding, as well as, the jib track, the seahood, coach top hand rails, and the seal around the campion way. I dont believe that I want some of these to be "permenant" like 5200 states it is. OPinions whould be highly appreciated.

such as "Boatlife". Key is to make sure surfaces to be sealed are
CLEAN,CLEAN and that means both surfaces to be joined. A pre-wipe with
acetone after cleaning just before applying caulking. 3M now has a
new polyurethane "4200" that allows easy disassembly unlike 5200
which is more for permanent bonds like hull deck joints. I have no
long term experience with the 4200, its fairly new. I intend to
try it on my companionway seals and seahood soon. I use a 3/4" wide latex squeegee to remove excess caulk from around fittings after tightening.I also use a 1" throw away chip brush with the bristles cut down to about 3/8" along with appropriate solvent in a can to clean up difficult areas like around and inside screw heads etc. I use a rag with solvent to do the final wipe. Perfect results everytime. I used this technique when I worked for Morgan Yachts. Be liberal with the caulk for a quality job. Have fun!
Re: Bedding Compounds
Bill, another product that I discovered this summer is bedding tape made by Rule Industries. The bedding is rolled in tape form, you cut off whatever length you need, and apply under your hardware. It can easily be cleaned up with solvent and a sharp knife. I did find that tape was easier to use if the temperature was not real hot...say in the 90's.
Good luck!
