Need a Report on West Marine Batteries Please.

Post by Chuck »

I am considering buying the West Marine brand "Seafit" batteries, while they are on sale next week. Does anyone have any experience with them, good or bad?
thanks, Chuck

West Marine Batteries

West Marine batteries are made by Deka, East Penn Manufactruing Co. Excellent batteries. If you are near a Deka distributor sometimes you can save a little money but maybe not if West has them on sale. I have a pair of group 24s that were installed 4 years ago and they are still going strong. You will need to keep a good charge on them or they will sulfate.

West Marine Batteries

I am in my third season with a 24 and 27 West Marine battery set. They have been fine; seem to hold a charge exceptionally well. During the winter I put them on a charger every 30 days.

Sears DieHard Platinum

I just put 2 Sears DieHard Platinum (glass-mat) batteries
(31 series) on Cleona. Time will tell if it was a good investment
but after one weekend I'm very happy. I ran the frig all weekend
and the batteries charged noticeably faster when I ran the engine.
Plenty of cranking power and mucho reserve.
