Typhoon shroud and stay replacement

Post by Alan Strowd »

Thank you to those who created this page! I have a 1974 Typhoon and would like to replace the two stays and all shrouds, including the turn buckles. Can you direct me to the businesses which still manufacture these items...I want to also replace my mainsail sometime next year. Thanks for any suggestions.

Much of the bronze Spartan hardware used by Cape Dory is available from Rig-Rite in Warwick, RI (401-739-1140). Spartan itself is still in existence in Maine, but only making spars (I think). But you won't need anything that specialized to replace your standing rigging. A good local rigger can do the work for you. Just take him your old rigging for measurement. You can even order new rigging by mail from West Marine or Layline. Their catalogues have good instructions on making the measurements yourself.<p
