Once again, Cape Dory design and quality construction came through! Our CD 33, in Charleston, SC, was the only boat on our section of the dock that did not suffer significant damage (read: sank or had holes in the hull) during hurricane Floyd's recent trip through the Carolinas. We had pieces of other boats hung up in our rigging, and the boat next to us, broke loose and knocked up the fiberglass pretty good, tore off the toe rail and bent stanchions, etc. Repairs will be pricey, but MUCH less than those with thinner hulls all around us. We have heard this quote from at least two surveyors and people in the boatyard, "Good thing she was a Dory!" We agree.
