Re: Leak - Cockpit bench drain / scupper into cabin

I agree with Tom. https://www.westmarine.com/buy/captain-tolleys--2-oz-crack-cure-sealant--243990 It has worked well for me through the years. Last time was a windshield molding on a motor sailor with a drip drip drip. Captain Tolleys stopped the leak. I knew it wasn't permanent but it stopped leaki...

Re: "79 Ty Weekender

When I owned a Weekender, I used an internal tank like Jim. The problem to be solved is what do I do when I need more fuel to make the 30 mile trip from Marina Del Rey, Ca., to Catalina Island? Topping off an internal tank while the boat is rolling in the ocean was dangerous and uncomfortable. My so...

Re: What one thing...

For those who use an outboard motor to power our CD, don't forget a spare fuel line.

The two things that go is the line itself due to ethenol and the O ring inside the connector.

The first time I needed one, I didn't have one. The second and third time I needed one I did have one!

Re: Questions re leak-proofing hatches, CD31

Thanks, Gary. I have heard of that stuff, but not in a very long time. But seems like I had heard positive reports before.

Did you use the Tolley's on cracks in the existing sealer?
Exactly. It was easy to use and it worked. I believe it is designed to fill very small cracks in sealer.

Re: Questions re leak-proofing hatches, CD31

Years ago I tried this on leaking forward facing windows of a pilot house sail boat.

https://www.westmarine.com/buy/captain- ... nt--243990

It worked and the leak was still gone 8 or 10 years later when I sold the boat.

Good Luck

Re: Miscellaneous Questions for CD 25

To hold up the cover on my CD22, I cut a scrap piece of teak down to fit a small pad eye. I screwed the pad eye to the teak and then I used a sealant/adhesive I found in my dock box to attach the pad eye and backing plate centered on the inside and forward part of the cover. From there a line and a ...

Heat and fiberglass

Hello My Friends, Maybe you have noticed that my CD22 is for sale. I'm going through the boat removing all the personal gear, cleaning and shining and so on to make her sparkle. On the cabin ceiling, directly under the mast, there is an inspection hole with a teak cover. On one side of the inspectio...

Cape Dory 22 for sale on the West Coast (Sold)

Just letting you all know that my CD22 is sadly for sale, just in case some west coast interests see it here. My wife and I do not use the boat as much as we thought we would now that we are retired and a recent slip rate increase has motivated me to sell. NADA Guide says the High is $8400 and the L...

Re: Auto Helm 1000 tiller pilot

Thanks John,

I believe I've heard that the manufacturer charges a flat fee of something like $200 or so plus shipping to repair the unit.

Re: Auto Helm 1000 tiller pilot

Sea trail went perfect and the auto helm is running like new. The hard part turned out to be replacing the gasket between the top and bottom halves. I thought I had it but on my sea trail I saw a place that was wrong so back to my garage to try again. Finally got the gasket on right. I just hope I d...

Re: Auto Helm 1000 tiller pilot

Tiller pilot is on my work bench and opened up. I found a "screw drive rod" and on each side two "plain rods" that are connected together to drive the ram that attaches to the tiller. The screw drive rod and the two plain rods had dried out white grease on them that was giving th...
