Ask the old-timers
At most fishing villages and ports there was a beach, sandbar or a small island that was exposed at low tide. They were traditionally used to beach the boats to allow them to work on the exposed half-hull. The area had to be solid enough so the people did not have to slog around in mud and but free o...

How about a "Y" valve connected to the raw water intake with the alternate intake to the bilge. It seems that most intakes are raw water as opposed to fresh water-closed cooling systems. An extra pump and system adds more weight on the stern and is another system to maintain. The "Y&q...

Is Sta-Bil (the gas stabilizer) needed or useful for Diesel
I have an 11 gal(US) tank and try to keep it reasonably full.Do I need to add Sta-Bil over the winter. I run the motor at least once a month and will keep the boat in the water this winter in a fresh water lake in Georgia.

I have a Bayfield 25 with an inboard yanmar diesel. So it's similar in size to your CD25.A PO put a real teak swim platform on the boat .It is a hard mount and has a swing down 4 step ladder. Anybody ever use SMITHS EPOXY on their teak/mahogny?
Product will stabilize and preserve the wood as well as provide a good "base" coat for top coat adhesion.I've never used it but the mfg.website and description is very detailed and informative.Sounds like a good product.

Diesel soot on transom,What removes it safely?
Don't want to kill the fish in the boat basin! Apparently the PO did not "blow out" the yanmar often enough and it was rather smokey.I now run it up to max RPM for a couple of mins prior to shutdown. Also motor at max occasionally. This seems to have practically elininated the smoking. The ...
