Re: Robinhood / CD 36 from Scratch

Our's was Robinhood's 1996 demo/boat show boat built on spec. A new one in 1997 was 200k list with no upgrades or options. A recent survey put ours at around 150k for insurance purposes. 20th season coming up!! Here's a link to a few post Sandy pics. She was pretty scratched up and I had her trucked...

Re: GoPro pics and vid, 15 days NJ to Newport and back

We've been staying at the Newport Shipyard the past few years for one night for annual service. They contract with DePaul Diesel and I have them do all regular maintenance. We get to hang with the big boys and enjoy the view cruising the docks, courtesy cars, showers etc, and they are so nice and pr...

Re: Veterans and their Dories for a Happy Veterans Day 2015

Yes, the 141's were reliable, fast and overpowered even. They were actually stretched from 10 pallet positions originally to 13. something like 25 or 30 feet! The C-5s were very problematic. They have 28 main landing gear wheels and could "Crab" / "Yaw" on landing. But the comple...

Re: Veterans and their Dories for a Happy Veterans Day 2015

141's could take off at 357,500 lbs, they were the workhorse from 1960 'til just a few years ago and are all decommissioned. C-17s have replaced them.
C-5's still fly the outsized cargo and can take off at 750,000 lbs
There's as much cargo space in a C-130 as there is wasted space on a C-5

Re: Poll: How often do you unstep your mast for winter and

We took down 10 masts yesterday. Crane cost, $970.00. 4 hours and we all got to talk boats, this years trips, next years trips etc. planned trips together next year, and checked out each others boats as we all helped each other and get to know one another. Kinda like neighbors, only new ones every y...

Re: Poll: How often do you unstep your mast for winter and

Every year. Mostly because I bought a one piece Fairclough cover and they are less expensive then one with all the work involved in a "mast up" two piece. It keeps all water out. It keeps the sun off the woodwork and topsides. And the vibration on a windy day is scary. Unlike in the water ...

Gopro pics and vids NJ to Newport and back

2 weeks worth of GoPro pics and Vids stitched together.
Strange trip, 8 days of easterlies heading east, 3 days of calm on Block and of course westerlies for the trip back west.

Re: Engine / Transmission / Prop Survey CD36 or Robinhood 3

Rich: We have the Yanmar 3JH2E and a three blade prop. 18 seasons now and no failures, just regular maintenance. It was equipped with a "B" panel with idiot lights and a tach. So no hour meter. I estimate we do around 200 hours a year so, 3600 hours so far. I have replaced the motor mounts...
