Re: Cape Dory Rally - City Island YC, NY
We would love to meet up.
We'd love to show the work Robinhood did last Winter after Sandy.

Re: Sandy's Victims
Colleen Marie is in a heap in Atlantic Highlands and we cannot get to her 'til they stabilize the harbor. She was knocked off her stands but we cannot tell how badly she's damaged because shes hidden from view. No one is allowed into the harbor except maybe some press. Jack Flannerys CD 30 looks lik...

Re: Temp Storage NY/NJ
Solmar: If you're headed south, Atlantic Highlands NJ is a very convenient spot to keep her. Just south of Manhattan behind Sandy Hook, behind a great breakwater. We'd love to see you and a sister ship to Colleen Marie. The club would be happy to rent you a mooring and Eric the launch captain would ...

Re: Shaft Log Hose - Need Advice
Spartan sells these hoses as well as a very high grade hose clamp without thread knock outs.
The threads are pressed into the band but no slots.
I'm not an expert on corrosion but less area exposed seems better.

Re: Cleaning/Greasing Turnbuckles
I clean mine with metal polish and do nothing to lubricate.
I find that anything else just attracts dust and stuff.
Although I hear lanolin helps if they are still stiff.
I use a fine small brass wire brush on the threads.

Very Interested, but for next Fall/Winter.
I am planning to put the boat in that area for next fall winter instead of hauling here in NJ in October. I'm in sales and my territory goes down to DC. This way I could stay on the boat instead of hotels when down there and enjoy October/November and April/May and extend my season. I'm assuming you...

Finally accepted a race invitation
Our club had a fun race Saturday. No fees, no min or max crew, easy registration and a rating if you need it. We got a 195. The race committee thought it would be fun to do a pursuit start where you apply the given time at the start. We were second to start at 1 minute and 22 seconds after the first...

Long Branch Manufacturing
Not sure where you are but there's this company in Long Branch NJ who can build anything. And he's reasonable. They used to be called Long Branch Manufacturing, now just LBM design. At one point he was manufacturing cabinet doors for Sabre. I found their web site: http://lbmdesign.net Bill Poandl. I...

How about a strong piece of line?
I copied my hi tech racer friends. I pin my stays with cotter pins but use a strong piece of line, like Spectra for the shrouds. A bowline on one, two hitches and taped, through the middle two and a clove hitch on the other with 2 half hitches and taped. After a while I can see they have turned slig...

it's all about the schedule
I've been cruising between NJ and New England for 20 some years. Get a copy of Eldridge, mostly for the current charts, and a cruising guide. Plan on motoring half the time unless you have time to beat or wait at anchor. Motortack when you can. Don't waste the easterlies that come with the cold fron...
