Re: CD Power Burgee design

This one came up right before the Boards went down. I had the attached embroidery done for me by Albatross Embroidery, which is the CDSOA chandlery. I only share this so you know there are options. Get in touch with Sandy. I'm sure he can do this for you, and yes, once it is done once, it can be don...

Re: The most powerful outboard CD 25

I hate to see a post go unanswered, so I'll get the conversation started. On my former CD25, I could fit a 6HP Tohatsu in the well, but couldn't turn it inside the well, so I steered with the tiller. Could you provide some context to your question about "most powerful". Are your sailing wa...

Re: I Spy...

I spied CD22 Ariel in Fox Islands Thorofare on Monday, August 14th. I was the give-way vessel and passed astern when I saw "Ariel" on the transom. I was too slow with my camera, so I didn't get a photo. Sorry, Jim.

Re: CD25 Sailing to Nova Scotia

It would be a long day from Shelburne, but Port Mouton is great anchorage with a nice sandy beach. Legend has it that a sheep went overboard from a ship, which is how Port Mouton got its name. Whether there is any truth to it is anyone's guess, but it's an intriguing story.

Re: Overheating

I knew by the white smoke that I had reduced water flow, so I didn't look over the stern to verify what I already knew. I was more concerned about reducing speed to the point where the operating temperature dropped down to normal and getting myself home where I could start working on it. I can't say...

Overheating

Last week, my engine started overheating and there was noticeable white smoke. Knowing that white smoke is generally caused by steam and insufficient water flow, I immediately suspected the raw water pump impeller. Upon removal, there were some broken vanes, but none of them had broken off completel...

Re: Mystery Tool - your guesses please

Just a guess, but does the shaft end insert into a hole to keep the oven from gimbaling?

Re: Interesting Boats

I have a thing for small boats. Take a look at these old wooden dories and launch boats. These were taken last week in Trondheim, Norway's oldest city.

Re: interior make over

Let me share some of the unintended consequences of adhesive backed liners. My sailboat (not a CD) had an adhesive liner in the vee-berth. When we took over ownership, there was a bad smell coming from the vee-berth. When we peeled the liner off, we discovered so many dead beetles and other insects ...

Re: Hoist Launching Typhoon

Probably not so critical for a Typhoon that doesn't weigh very much, but if the boat was much bigger, you would want to tie those slings together to prevent slippage particularly in the sloping forefoot. Also, if the boat was any bigger, you would not want to sling it in the aft overhang.

Re: Cape Dory 25

Sorry, I just now saw this one. I removed my teak coamings on my former CD25. Mine were bedded with dolfinite, which I believe was original. They came off fairly easily. I used a fairly small bead of polysulfide when I re-installed them. If it's not too late, search the archives for a post by "...
