Finally! Just got back from Post Office.
Sorry for the delay in getting these out, guys. I have mailed all but one of the CDs. Bill2, check your private messages. I've received several requests from different sources, so it's possible I missed someone. If you requested a CD25 Archive CD and haven't received it by, say, Monday or Tuesday of...

Nice Pics
Henry, Sorry, I can't help out on an environmentally friendly bottom paint. I did, however, take a look at your website and the flickr photo group. Your boat looks great. I noticed your CD25 has eyebrows. I think Mary Ellen also had eyebrows, but mine doesn't. I'm just curious if anyone knows what d...

Great input everyone. Thanks!
Once again the collective wisdom of this board does not disappoint. I guess what I take from all this is plan ahead, hang onto your hat, and enjoy the ride

Looking for pointers in exiting the canal
This sort of ties in with Joe's thread on cruising goals. I've always headed northeast to Maine waters, except for one trip to Stellwagen Bank. Next summer I'm planning on sailing down to visit my brother who lives in Falmouth and works at Woods Hole. Are there any words of advice for someone exitin...

Hydrodynamics and Prop Drag
Peter, The prop drag may not be as serious an issue as you might think. First, the prop is in the shadow of the keel. As much as we'd like to think we have laminar flow across our keels, the reality is, the flow is quite turbulent. Turbulent flow creates flow separation on the downstream side of the...

One person's experience with Epifanes
Without entering into the fray on the Great Cetol v. Varnish Debate, I've had excellent results with Epifanes. Preparation is everything, and you do need to thin it quite a bit. The Epifanes thinner is expensive, but a little goes a long way. One can of thinner can thin three cans of varnish. Captai...

Hitch
Double wife hitch? I know of one wife in particular whose marlinspike skills are excellent. Not to mention some regular contributors to this board.

Brenno - Great to hear from you again
I was starting to wonder if we had lost you. Are you still on that Sunseeker? Any news on the restoration, or is that on hold for a while?

Didereaux Archive CDs
From a recent thread, I've received five more requests for the CD25 archive CD. Plus Bill's request from a long time ago that I completely forgot about until now (sorry Bill  ), makes six. Are there any more requests while I'm at it? I'd like to do them all at once, and then retire and let som...

Google Let Me Down
Robert, Since no one has picked this one up, I thought I'd give it a shot. Google came up completely blank. I found a couple second-hand references to a Sovereign America 24, but nothing about the boat itself. Evidently very little has been written about them. I guess you'll have to rely on the advi...

158 mph gust on Mt. Washington
Check out this article on msnbc.com. If I'm not mistaken, wasn't The Perfect Storm on this exact same weekend in 1991?

Consider LED?
Dick, I'm not sure how much of a traditionalist you are, but have you considered an LED lantern? I love the look of the old oil lanterns too, but I finally came down on the side of function over form. I got an Eveready LED lantern for 15 bucks at the local hardware store. It takes 4 D-size batteries...
