dwyer not rigrite

I ordered this very tabernacle from dwyer because I found rigrite to be more expensive and slow. I also wanted to speak with an expert and only got an answering service. Rigrite has some problems. There are several previous posts pertaining to the tabernacle you want to order as well as discussions ...

helix anchor

Has anyone tried a helix type anchor (big screw) instead of a mushroom, concrete block or some other heavy mass. I have always wondered how you get a 500 lb mushroom out to the mooring field in the first place. I have read about the helix type anchor screws, but know of no one who has used one. Are ...

replace ASAP

I would replace these old gate valves ASAP. If you are unsure of how to do it, hire someone who is knowledgeable. The peace of mine you will acheive is priceless.

I have a 76' Johnson 6 Seahorse. This is a great little 2 stroke and I'm guessing the weight to be around 50 lbs. It goes in and out easily and will push the boat at haul speed at about 3/4 throttle. I rarely run it this hard. I like to go a little less than 1/2 throttle, which is about 4 knots. Thi...

bacon

I've dealt with Bacon and when I lived in VA. , I visited their facility. They are a reputable outfit who you can trust. I would advise you to get detailed specs on the sail you are purchasing so that you don't end up sending it back. They tend to offer a lot of light weight mains (Thistles and such...

Thank you

Thanks for the suggestions on mounting my compass. I like the idea of mounting it on center and the removability factor. I also didn't like the idea of sawing a hole in the boat.

bulkhead compass installation on a CD25

I have a flush vertical mount suunto bulkhead compass. It measure 3 1/2" in diameter and sits 2 1/2" into the hole. I am contemplating its placement. Can I install it on the port side companionway bulkhead? I like this side because of the setback for the electrical panel. But will the elec...

mast tabernacle

Are you speaking of a Mast Tabernacle? If so, I replaced mine just a week ago on my CD25 (not D, I don't know if they are different). I purchased the SS hinge and step from Dwyer (www.dwyer.com for $100 (w/shipping) and had a local fabricator punch the electrical and deck mounting holes for another ...

My Navico TP1600

Joe, I too have an old Navico TP1600. It works well while motoring, but shouldn't be used under sail. It responds too slow. I use mine to keep course while setting and dropping sails. IT DOES MATTER which way you connect the power. It will blow the fuse if reversed. Get the correct fuse too. I'm not...

mast base plate

The hinged base plate on the mast of my CD25 has stress cracks. With my mast down, I removed it from the deck to inspect the underside of the plate. I noticed cracks on both sections where the hinge extends beyond the rectangular region of the plate. I need to get a replacement. Can anyone direct me...

Flat Puck at an angle

I use the two part epoxy putty that comes in a tube. Its like modeling clay. My transducer is flat. In my CD25 I mounted it on the port side center, behind the thru haul about 12 to 16 inches.

Epoxy Putty

I affixed my transducer to the hull with epoxy putty. Lightly sand the paint from the inside of the hull where you want to place the transducer. Kneed the epoxy putty as instructed, make sure all air bubbles are removed. Place the putty on the hull, press the transducer into the putty making sure it...

Morad vs. Shakespeare Antenna

Thank you for all the advice. I found a good electronic/radio shop that specializes in marine applications. He made up a length of RG-8U with one of the silver ends mentioned by Andy. I will install the other after the mast is up. He also convinced me to go with a Morad antenna instead of the Shakes...

VHF Coax Cable

I have my mast down and will be installing a VHF antenna. I have found a variety of coaxial cabling on the market with varying prices from $1.19 to $.16 per foot. What should I look for when buying coax?
