Marinco 4" solar fan

My CD22 is sealed nice and tight... so, it's 100 degrees inside when it's only 70 degrees ambient. I'm thinking about adding a Marinco solar fan like I had on my Ty. But, that one was installed through the fiberglass deck. I'd like to install in my Bomar hatch like this: https://www.youtube.com/watc...

Re: CD 22 Questions...

Thank you, Jim. I just discovered the identical issue with my CD22 battery meter... new battery; low voltage readout. Time for me to step into the 21st century.

Re: Can anyone help me locate this brass lantern?

That's the one! Thanks for connecting the dots for me... I found a separate site that lists the smoke bell, which makes the set complete as shown in the video. A little large in scale for my 22' CD, though. I've tried and tried to locate Perko lanterns, but seem to strike out on a complete one that'...

Re: Advice for refurbishing teak

Thanks so much for these comments and reassurance. My boat is a 1981 CD 22 and has been a lake boat from new... indoor stored each winter. So, my baseline is quite good and will continue to be seasonal under my tutelage. Vermont's season is woefully short.

Re: Advice for refurbishing teak

I had a nice conversation with a fellow yesterday who will only use Semco teak sealer... he says it goes on like water and two coats will create an impervious surface that leaves the teak in its natural state, while preventing dirt and water penetration. I'll report results!

Can anyone help me locate this brass lantern?

I'm ready to get an oil lamp and have past experiences with the rather common (and expensive!) Weems and Plath. I was watching this video and came across a really neat cylindrical style, but cannot find it anywhere on the web. Has anyone seen this or know of a source to purchase from? Thanks! (see 1...

Advice for refurbishing teak

Hello - I have a really sweet and original Cape Dory 22 and would like to return the teak to 'as new.' I heard from someone of a recipe of (maybe) Murphy's Oil Soap and very light (non-metal) abrasive sponge. This is done to clean. Wait a few days in the sun to dry and then take sandpaper to it. Fin...

Dyer Dhow Midget - complete package

I purchased a 7' 11" Dyer Dhow Midget from its original owner last fall. The boat is in excellent, almost new condition. The package includes a brand new cover, brand new (never used) colorful sail, along with everything needed to both row and sail. It has never been dragged on the beach, let a...

Re: Pictures from Newicks Lobster House

Fantastic! Thanks for sharing. Wanted to go, but am in the process of relocating my office and weekends are the only time to paint and box up. Really enjoyed the first half of the book and am building steam toward learning of the development of the 22' model. Two questions: 1) Are the CD stickers av...

Re: Advice for new owner of a Cape Dory 22

Congrats on the 30! Might she be named "Free Bird?" I have a nice pic of one taken at the Shipyard just last summer.

My 22 will be in Converse Bay, just a little south of you, along with a Ty Sr and at least two Ty Weekenders - assuming they return this season.

Re: CD22 New Sails

I went with the Tohatsu Sail Pro. Luckily, the dealer is sympathetic to my concern about the ballast... and will credit the price of the motor toward a 9.9hp Suzuki if it's insufficient. The broad lake of Champlain can get rough. Those prices for sails are actually not terrible, wouldn't you agree?
