Re: Weather stripping for cockpit lockers?

I had my first 25D back in 2001 and replaced the teak/mahogany cockpit locker water dam with a new one. My carpentry skills are not that great and it took some time to make, but worked well. Here is a photo of the old one next to the new one. This was for the port side locker. locker coaming board.j...

Service manual for a 1GM

Hello,

Where can I find a service manual for a Yanmar 1GM? I have been online and can not find one for sale. I know there are websites that say they have it you can download, but I keep getting warnings that the websites can't be trusted

Thank you.

Re: Yanmar 1GM

Hello, I am very happy with Discount Marine Source. I was able to get three studs for the exhaust elbow in no time flat. Nobody else had them. They are OEM Yanmar parts. The elbow from Exhaustelbow LLC was 1/3 the price of the Yanmar part. All 316 stainless, with the gasket at no charge. They both i...

Thermostat removal impaired

Hey all,
Check this out. Either the factory or the rebuild guy back in 2017 had a sense of humor or was goofy. Check out the fuel line in front of the thermostat Yeesh! Talk about complicating an easy service issue!!

Re: Yanmar 1GM

Thanks so much for your input. I think the first thing I am going to do is take the elbow off and inspect it. A clogged up elbow cold be an engine killer, increase restriction, and starve the engine of air and will lower your RPM's. I'll bet the exhaust residue is due to a clogged up elbow. There ar...

Yanmar 1GM

Hello all, I have a 1983 CD25D with the original engine. It was rebuilt in 2018 by a Yammer dealer in Oriental NC. It runs great! I know that the WOT on this engine is supposed to be 3600 RPM or so. Is this spec under load or not under load?? The only work I have done, at commisioning this year in M...

Going loose footed with current sail

Hi, Since I need to go loose footed to have the Sail Pack I will need to remove the slugs from the foot and go loose. I plan on an outhaul slide on the clew. Any other suggestions? How long will that 40 year old sail last? I plan on replacing next year! One more season, I hope! Spring sailboat show ...

Re: Lazy Jacks -Yea or nay!

Thanks to all for your kind words. I have since realized that I cannot use a clew strap as the current mains'l's clew is right above the cheek blocks for the reefing lines, so I am going to use a outhaul slide from Sailrite. Trying to noodle around the dimensions of the bolt channel in the boom. Tel...

Re: Lazy Jacks -Yea or nay!

Hello and thanks John, I am going to the loft today to discuss this system. I have done some reading and want to ponder the Dutchman system as well. The boat is small and I am up in years so I need the safest, easiest system to use. I may get one more season out of the mains'l and want to ask the lo...

Lazy Jacks -Yea or nay!

I am considering lazy jacks on my CD25D. I am also considering a stopac with the lazy jacks. What say you? I have never had lazy jacks and am hoping it will help us better deal with the main.
Thank you

Re: Born to Build: The History of Cape Dory

I very much enjoyed the book. It does truly give you a detailed insight into the processes that make this boat so popular. A dedicated team and an owner with vision is a winning combination.

Bacon Sail Lazy Bag

Hey everybody, Looking for input around a StoPak, Lazy Bag, etc. Lazy jack and bag system. I have a CD25D and there are some cheek blocks already up the mast. They are just below the spreaders, on the port and stb side of the mast .The Lazy Bag from Bacon Sails would like them to be 65% up the mast ...
