Re: Miscellaneous Questions for CD 25

I'm assuming you want to motor with the lazerette open because your outboard won't run properly with it closed? That's been an often discussed topic on this board over the years. You'll have a quieter cockpit if you can figure out a way to help your motor breath adequately with the lid down. When I ...

Re: Looking for Spartan Ports

Thanks Jim. I lucked into a great deal for the 6 I have, then altered the design a little and found I need two more. I have time but would prefer used, not only for the price but for the aged patina also.

Re: Tribute to Glen Snader (Hobby Marine)

I'm so sorry to hear of Glen's death. Glen was one of the first members of this forum that I met when I first started sailing and bought my first boat, a CD25. When I wrote here of my first sail, the problems I encountered, and the resultant broken tiller, he contacted me, encouraged me to continue,...

Update, the boat has been traded an will sail again. For the boat I received a generous amount of lead which will go into my current project's keel.

Well, I'd hate to destroy a project if someone was truely interested so I've listed it on Uncle Henry's here in Maine (www.unclehenrys.com) for $800. If no sale then I'll be parting it out for the lead, alluminum, and a little bronze. thanks for your thoughts, scott

I appreciate all the thoughts...which at this point is all I'm looking for. I don't want to make a rash decission. I have a mooring available to be so with a little work and some used sails I know I could make it more attractive to a buyer. I still have 2' of snow/ice here so have time to consider o...

Cape Dory 25 as Scrap

I know this is blasphemy but I'm considering decomissioning (nicer wording) a 1974 Cape Dory 25. This is a bare hull with no sails, no outboard, no running rigging. The cost to transport and get this boat back in the water is more than I could purchase one ready to go. I've attempted to sell this bo...

NC--Outer Banks Evacuation

I just read online that North Carolina has issued evacuations for the Outer Banks Islands beginning with Ocracoke on Wednesday. I hope all my friends in Oriental weather this with minimal effects. I'm thinking of y'all.

Re: CD25, 27, 28 and 30 sailing characteristics

Would any of you folks who have owned or sailed a variety of CDs like to comment on the sailing characteristics of various CDs up to 30 feet. I have decided to move up from my 25 to something larger in the next year or 2. I have owned the 25 for three years and am pretty new to sailing. I liked the...

CD 25 Ice box Repair

I picked up a 1974 CD25 project earlier this winter. Had been sitting neglected for quite some time. With the weather getting milder the past few days I tackled a few jobs. I completely gutted the interior, scrubbed out all the mold and mildew, and began some repairs. Today's project was enjoyable s...
