CD 27 - Rigid Vang

Warren:

How do you like the rigid vang and how difficult was it to install? How does it look? Is it in keeping with the tradditional look of the boat? I have been interested in it for a while for my CD 27.

Thanks,

Chaffing Gear

I stop off at a couple of auto re upolstory (sp) places in the area. They often have leather seats that they are re doing and give me the old material. I cut the leather into strips and then stop off at the shoe maker to sew the sleaves that I slip over the dock lines and then a couple of stiches to...

Furling Line

I set my line up so that the line is checked so that it it is "cleated" in the direction of the load. This takes the pressure off you of having the sail unfurl more than you want it to until you get it cleated off (if you are reducing sail or just want to pause while unfurling it).

CD 27 - Autohelm

I have a Raymarine 2000 + on my CD27. The key, as has been mentioned earlier, is sail trim so one does not overtax the unit. Reducing sail area to reduce weather helm is essential to avoid breaking the unit let alone having it perform well.

Back Stay Backing Plate Rust CD 27

I have had a rust issue in the backing plate for the backstay on my boat. I have each year, scraped away what I can, sometimes fair sized flakes, then treating with OSPHO and rustolium paint. What I don't know is how to assess the extent of the "damage". Nothing is loose but the idea that ...

Bilge Float Switch

Mine is mounted on a small block of wood that fits the shape of the bildge. In this way it is wedged into position and does not move about.

What Basin are you in? I am in C Basin just passed the Chart House.

Battery Replacement

It is a CNB 350. You can find it but it is expensive. The cheapest that I have seen it is for about $94 or so and up to $112.

Navik

I have a Navik which I have been wanting to mount on my CD 27 for some time. Would love to share your ideas on how you will mount, run lines to tiller and attach to same. Just had the paddle and the vane repainted with awlgrip and no time to drill the holes for the tubes and support braces.

I have an IPOD which now carries all of my music in it. I use it on the boat with the same cassette addaptor that I used fo the disc man/player. That is a "cassette" with a wire and mini plug that fit into the stereo and plugs into the portable disc player and now the IPOD. I have a hard w...
