Re: Typhoon WTB

I've got one in NH.
Limited photos here (ad posted 4/14/22), but more on CraigsList and Fakebook.
A little rough wrt topside paint, but dry dry decks and new/like-new sails.

Re: WTB: Typhoon

Hi Joel,
May or may be too far or what you're looking for, but Hull No. 6 is looking for a new home.
There's a post here from 04/14/2022, and also a listing on CraigList New Hampshire (more photos).
And if not, then good luck. This board is super helpful with finding and fixing.

Re: WTB: Typhoon

Hi Pinch. I have a Typhoon that needs a new home. 1967, Hull No. 6 from Cape Dory. A few photos here on CDSOA, but more photos on the CraigsList ad. She needs some attention, but the sails are like new, there are no big-ticket items, and the decks are dry. Boat is in southern NH, so not around the c...

For sale: Typhoon Hull No. 6

Hull No. 6. Built without a liner: wood bulkheads, and a significantly deeper cockpit than the production versions. Not self-bailing but a lot of legroom and more headroom under the boom than production Tys. The decks are dry – no soft spots. The sliding hatch is in rough shape but serviceable. The ...

Re: Looking for a Typhoon

Hi Marc.
I'm selling mine. Ad is on CraigsList in NH and soon to be here also. Might be a bit too far for you, even if the boat is the right combination of condition/equipment. Happy to chat about it with you.

Re: How strong is a Typhoon heel fitting?

A clear explanation of why it's worth my time to make my bow roller height (or bow roller post) more easily adjustable. Thank you much, Mr. Villamil.

How strong is a Typhoon heel fitting?

During hauling out, due to the angle of the ramp, the bow starts tight to the trailer bow support while the boat is still in the water, and as the boat rotates back on the front of the keel easing out of the water, the boat ends up a couple inches farther aft on the trailer than it's supposed to be ...

Not mine, but the one just before mine. Hull No. 5 !!

Can anyone confirm or deny that at one point the Typhoon was built with a bowsprit?
This is Hull No. 5 landlocked in NH.
I've got Hull No. 6. A lot of similar details, but that bowsprit arrangement!

Re: Typhoon genoa tracks - length and location?

Ben and Steve, thank you!

Length: 4' it is.

Fastening: I am an engineer, but I also have feelings, and I'll feel a lot better if the track is through-bolted. And it's only holes for another 2' of track each side.

Wabi Sabi and I are grateful for your time and input.

Typhoon genoa tracks - length and location?

Happy nearly-spring, Typhooners! I want to get a head start on pre-launch projects, and the one I need the most help with is the genny tracks. Wabi Sabi is Hull No. 6, partially restored by a non-sailor, and the original 2' long s.s. genny tracks are set with the forward end about 12" aft of th...

Re: Typhoon toe rail scupper placement / size.

Thank you! Ended up looking at a few hundred photos, estimated distances, and made three each side. About 5/16" high x 1" long, spaced similarly to as shown on your photos. Not entirely symmetrical due to not wanting to encroach on toe rail fasteners. And thank you for your messages - I ma...

Typhoon toe rail scupper placement / size.

Hi. Hull No. 6 here. Previous owner replaced the toe rails, but didn't drill/cut in any scuppers. Any suggestions on placement? Where is the low spot on the boat for the center scupper, how far between them, what size to make them? I've looked at a lot of Typhoon photos and there seems to be quite a...
