Re: CD28 / Volvo MD7A propeller sizing
Well, today I pulled the trigger and ordered the new Campbell Sailer, 13LH8.5, they are left hand props, correct? I’ll let you know how it goes once I get it in and installed.

Re: Reduction ratio - MSB & V Drive
I posted this same question on the FB group and the answer I got was that the reduction gear in the MSB is removed to add the Walter V-Drive. This makes sense to me since the MSB rebuild manual states it is a 1:1 and there is an alternate version with a 1.91:1 ratio. I don’t know if this will make a...

Re: TRYING TO FIND LEAK - Please Help
It’s a shame so many of these posts go unsolved. I have the same leak on my CD30 and haven’t found the source either.
However, if I do, I will post it here![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

Great job! Can’t wait to see it finished and installed. I need to do the same thing. Don’t know what wood I’ll use yet.

Re: Siezed aluminum propeller anode
PB Blaster may help. You can also try Barnacle Buster. It will dissolve any barnacles or marine growth and that may allow you to get the anode off. It may even eat the anode, if you leave it long enough
I think it’s sulfuric acid, or something like that.

Reduction ratio - MSB & V Drive
Okay, I’m confused, which doesn’t take much. I am getting a new propeller, which requires I enter in the engine max power, RPM, and the reduction ratio. For the Volvo MD7A with the MSB and Walter V-drive (standard setup), the MSB has a 1.91:1 reduction and then the v-drive has 2-1 ratio stamped on i...

Lackey Sailing - interesting website
I came across this page and it has a number of Cape Dory models that have been restored. May be of interest to some of you. There are a number of beautiful classic plastics that he has worked on.

Walter V-Drive Manual
Maybe I missed it on the main page, but I haven’t been able to find the Walter V-Drive Manual on the cape dory.org site. I did find it online and would like to post it here, in case anyone else is looking for it. Unfortunately, the message board doesn’t like *.pdf extensions. So, I’ll post a link to...

CD30 - New running gear
I’ve decided to take the plunge and get new running gear for my CD30c w/Volvo MD7A engine. I just had the boat hauled and removed the engine to get a look at the shaft log, since it was leaking in that area. I realized that the original propeller had been replaced with a Max-Prop 2-blade Easy. Unfor...

Re: Stuffing Box Hose
Just to tag onto this. No 5200. Just clamps. I just changed mine out. Pretty easy on the CD30 once you remove the engine ;). I did mine just like this: https://marinehowto.com/re-packing-a-traditional-stuffing-box/ One thing I wish I did differently was use interlocking t-clamps rather than spot wel...

Re: Cooling system problem - please help!
Good on you, AMcC. I am very hesitant to have any mechanic work on my boat or cars, I always feel like I’m going to get swindled or the quality of work will be subpar. I don’t know what happened to pride in doing one’s job well. Maybe it never existed. Anyway, rant off. Great job fixing it yourself ...

Re: CD28 / Volvo MD7A propeller sizing
I just got the same response. They must be wondering why all of these Cape Dory guys are asking all at the same time ;) Yeah, I’m on the fence with this one. I’ve heard great things about the Campbell, but I have to ask myself is it really worth the extra $$$. I’m not really a racer, but getting mor...
