Re: Spartan Frozen Seacocks
My seacocks were frozen. Maybe not as bad as yours. Everyday for about 2 weeks straight I stopped by the boat and sprayed them down with PB Blaster and tapped the handle one way and then the other. I hit them solidly but not as if I was trying to knock the handle off. Eventually they all broke free....

Re: Wanted - Pressurized alcohol oven
Will do. I ran out there a couple of months ago. I could probably spend a week crawling through all that he has! Hope to see you out on the water one day. -david Looking for a pressurized alcohol stove & oven with tank for a CD30c. Crazy, I know. If you have one rusting away in your garage, I'd ...

Re: Fall Sailing is Right Around the Corner
I can’t wait for fall. Went out to the boat today. Smoking hot in Florida and the humidity is oppressive. October can’t come soon enough!

Re: Filling holes in teak
Full disclosure, I have never tried this. However, my dad used to mix sawdust of whatever wood he was using in with wood glue and use that as a filler to match the color. Maybe that will work? Maybe it will look like crap. I have no idea, just a thought. Good luck and please let us know what you tri...

Looks really good. I really like the idea of adding bulwarks to the Cape Dory. They just seem to belong.

CD30c seawater entry points?
I motored our CD30c yesterday for about 2 hours and once we got back to the dock I realized that the bilge was more than 1/2 way filled with water. I manually pumped it out and took a quick look around the boat for any leaks but didn't spot any. This afternoon I went back out to the boat to see if t...

Re: What material used in my hatches?
hilbert how do you like the thickness & transparency? Would you go thicker/thinner? Would you go dark smoke 36 or keep what you ordered? I'm looking at doing the same thing and would greatly appreciate the information that you sent to Tap Plastics. I'm assuming the CD28 & CD30 hatches are th...

Re: Portal and hatch gaskets source?
The Bomar hatch gasket material looks like 9/16" vs. the 1/2" McMaster-Carr Ultra-Weather-Resistant EPDM Foam Cords for the Spartan portholes I don't know if that matters as I haven't changed either one. I do need to replace the lexan?/plexiglass? in my Bomar hatch though. https://www.mcma...

Re: Electrical question; battery charger
I have an RM-8 and it wasn't charging as well. When I bought the boat, it was missing the external fuse and cap, so I assumed that was the problem. I replaced the cap and fuse, but it still didn't charge the batteries. I checked with a non-contact AC power detector that the charger was receiving AC ...
