Re: CD30 Bowsprit

Following. My bowsprit is cracked and I want to replace it as well. Given the time and energy, I'd love to replace it with what John Stone did. But, I'm lazy and unskilled.

I think the 33 is my favorite. Love the layout and the size.

Re: Any Ham operators?

Thanks John. I bought a Sony 7600G, nearly identical to the 7600GR you have, and I've messed around with it a little bit. I can pull in New Orleans weather faxes pretty well (I'm in Niceville, FL so it's somewhat close to me). What I need to do is find out when the cruiser nets meet, write down the ...

Re: Any Ham operators?

I think it probably will. Most will use satellite while a few enthusiasts will still like using amateur radio. The thought of connecting to someone in the middle of a passage and talking with them real time is interesting to me, but I haven't committed to buying the necessary hardware yet. I wonder ...

Any Ham operators?

I just got my Technician license for amateur radio and am thinking about getting a setup for my CD30. Any other Cape Dory owners around that also have their ham radio license? I'm really interested in listening in to the various cruising nets if I can figure out a way to pick them up from either my ...

Re: MD7A raw water maintenance question - Barnacle Buster

Since you're looking at all the potential sources of engine overheat issues, take a look at your exhaust hose and make sure it's not delaminating. Mine is and I'm going to replace it.

Re: 1984 Cape Dory 30 cutter for sale

I really like your dorade vent, and aft bronze cowl vents. I plan on doing something similar whenever i can find some at a decent price. Good luck with the sale. Fresh water cooled MD7B is pretty nice to have.

Re: MD7A raw water maintenance question - Barnacle Buster

JD-MDR, I believe Barnacle Buster is phosphoric acid and other stuff. Not sure what the other stuff is. There is some discussion online about whether you can just mix your own cheaper...maybe, maybe not. Thanks David. I might start running mine a little higher. I am out now on anchor. There is littl...

Re: MD7A raw water maintenance question - Barnacle Buster

From the MD7A manual: Max. engine speed: MD7A 43.4 rev/sec (2600 rpm). In order to obtain maximum engine performance, an engine speed as high as possible should be chosen but not, however, greater than 43.4 rev/sec (2600 rpm). Idle 650-780 RPM. West Marine has Barnacle Buster concentrate on sale at ...

Re: MD7A raw water maintenance question - Barnacle Buster

I have had a few occasions of overheating. Every time it was a clogged fitting . There is a 1/4" fitting that goes into the mixing elbow. ( I think it's somewhere near the mixing elbow) I'll have to check tomorrow. It took me a while to figure it out. At first I overhauled the water pump ,then...

Re: MD7A raw water maintenance question - Barnacle Buster

Following. My MD7A has been converted to a cycled water cooling system. After reading reviews on BB, I'm thinking about running some through the heat exchangers. My motor is currently running hot, but I can't figure out why. I already replaced the impellers, checked the thermostat, and checked the t...
